Bladestorm

Bladestorm is an exciting and wild rhythmic adventure! With syncopation galore, performers will be challenged to lock in with one another while maintaining the driving groove of the music. The middle portion of the piece switches the feel from syncopated rhythms in 4/4 time to a more calm and grounded feel in 6/8 time, all while keeping a steady pulse.

While not composed with a specific program in mind, the piece is named after an attacking ability from the video game World of Warcraft (which I spent too much time playing in high school…) where warrior characters would spin around wildly, slashing and hacking at their foes. The piece was written for and premiered at the 2019 Austin Trumpet Camp.
