The Makers

The Makers is a cataclysmic fanfare inspired by lore from the Warcraft game series. In this lore, the makers (or titans) are metallic giants thought to be the deities that brought order throughout the cosmos. While they are believed to be creators of life and progenitors of order in an otherwise chaotic universe, they are also beings of tremendously terrifying power. The music has one primary melody, the theme of the makers, that traverses through the evolving styles of the fanfare. Moments of heroism are countered by moments of introspection, which are in turn countered by the chaos capable of being caused by a group of trombonists and percussionists. The piece was written for the 2016 University of Texas at Austin Trombone Choir under the direction of Dr. Nathaniel Brickens.
